Harem Hotel is a free fantasy visual novel with dating-sim and hotel-management systems, made in Ren'Py by Runey (RuneyGames). Public builds for Windows, Linux, Mac and Android (via the PC build) are free on itch.io, Patreon supporters get versions early, and the current release is 0.19.1.

In short
It is a long-running, free adult game in which you inherit your grandfather's hotel and build relationships with a cast of 18 characters while upgrading the business. It is a narrative visual novel at heart, with stats, traits and upgrades layered on top, so it plays closer to a light management game than a pure novel.
Players rate it highly on itch.io: 4.8 out of 5 from 8,612 ratings on September 30, 2026. Development started in 2017, and the game is still listed as in development, which is the main thing to understand before you start.
A note on credits: some older lists name a different studio. The itch.io page and the Patreon both credit Harem Hotel to Runey (RuneyGames).
You play through story events with each character while developing your own character and the hotel. Most progress comes from three connected systems:
The game also includes training systems, which tie into its themes of dominance (see the content note below). The itch page lists subtitles and configurable controls as accessibility features.
Interestingly, the developer's own most recent devlog, Dev Diary #12 from October 21, 2025, says "what Harem Hotel is lacking most right now is gameplay", noting that story has received more attention than mechanics.
That matches a fair reading of the game: it is mostly a story you unlock, and the management side is there to pace it.
The setting is Syl'anar, an elvish continent conquered by humans more than 300 years ago. The world is technologically advanced but deeply unequal, and the hotel you inherit puts you in contact with people on all sides of that divide.
Each of the 18 characters has their own storyline and secrets, and the plot reveals more about the world as those routes progress. All characters are adults.
Content note: the game includes adult sexual content and training/dominance themes, in a fantasy setting built around conquest and inequality. If those themes are a hard no for you, this is not the game to pick.
| Feature | Per the itch.io page |
|---|---|
| Characters | 18, each with an individual storyline |
| Events | Over 1,140 unique events |
| Images | Over 35,000 HD images |
| Length | "Dozens of hours of content" |
| Languages | English, Spanish (Castilian), Spanish (Latin America), Chinese |
| Accessibility | Subtitles, configurable controls |
| Engine | Ren'Py |
The official language support is a real plus. Most free adult visual novels ship in English only and leave translations to fans.
The game uses 3D rendered images in a fantasy setting, with elvish characters and a world that mixes fantasy with advanced technology. With more than 35,000 HD images, the game has a lot of art, and it is also a big download: the itch page puts the full game above 13 GB.
The game is free on the Harem Hotel itch.io page, but the files themselves are hosted off itch through external links on the game page. The page offers:
| Download | Covers | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PC/Android build | Windows and Linux (Android via JoiPlay) | Full game, with a mirror |
| Mac build | macOS | Separate download |
| PC patch 0.18.2 to 0.19.1 | Windows and Linux | Requires 0.18.2 |
| PC patch 0.17+ to 0.18.2 | Windows and Linux | For older installs |
Android is the one to read carefully. There is no separate Android app: the itch page's Android instructions use JoiPlay, a third-party Ren'Py runner with its plugins, to open the unpacked PC build on a phone. Expect more setup than installing a normal app.
Not soon. The game is not on Steam, and the developer has said in an itch.io comment that a Steam release is not coming soon. For more games distributed the same way, see our list of adult games on itch.io.
Yes. Public releases are free to download from the itch.io page. Patreon supporters get new versions early. Because it is free in full, it is one of the larger games on our list of free adult games.
We don't test files and can't claim any download is free of malware. Because the Harem Hotel download links are external, follow these steps:

Releases are slow. Version 0.19 went from a first preview in March 2025 to patch notes in September 2025, per the devlog, and the release date of 0.19.1 could not be confirmed. There has been no public devlog since October 2025, so we can't give an ETA for the next version.
If you are on 0.18.2, you can use the Harem Hotel patch 0.18.2 to 0.19.1 (PC) instead of the full download. The itch page also notes that you "may also want to move saves around", so back up your save folder before patching.
Yes. Public versions are free on the RuneyGames itch.io page. Patreon supporters get new builds earlier.
Yes, but not through a normal app. The itch page tells Android players to use JoiPlay with its Ren'Py plugins and open the unpacked PC build.
Yes. The Harem Hotel Mac download is a separate build next to the PC/Android build on the itch page.
Harem Hotel 0.19.1. The v0.19 patch notes were posted on September 3, 2025; the exact 0.19.1 release date could not be confirmed.
No. It is distributed through itch.io and Patreon, and the developer has said a Steam release is not coming soon.
The itch page offers patches from 0.18.2 to 0.19.1 and notes you may need to move saves around. We could not confirm full save compatibility, so back up your saves first.

The game offers an unusual amount for a free game: a large cast, a fantasy world with real political background, and official translations. The management layer is thin, as the developer admits, and the release pace is the biggest concern right now, with no devlog in almost a year. If you are fine with an unfinished story and its themes, it is well worth the download.
