Fallen Makina is a classic dungeon-crawling JRPG by Another Story, published in English by Kagura Games: a famous swordswoman descends the ruins under a city whose people are growing strangely corrupt. It costs $14.99 on Steam (regular price, September 2026) and is Windows only. The Steam build has partial nudity; the adult content comes from a free official patch on Kagura's site.

Content warning. This game is for adults only. Its story centres on the heroine's corruption. Steam lists partial nudity, fictional depictions of alcohol and drug use, references to non-consensual sex and strong language, and the publisher's own character descriptions make clear that sexual violence is part of the setting. If those themes are not for you, skip this one.
In short
Fallen ~Makina and the City of Ruins~ is an RPG made by Another Story and published in English by Kagura Games. It came out on Steam on February 23, 2018, and it is a finished game.
Players rate it well: the Steam review summary reads "Very Positive", with 85% of 2,013 user reviews positive as of September 2026. The store page calls it "a JRPG classic", and the design backs that up.
This is a classic dungeon-crawling RPG. You descend the ruins of Gardona one floor at a time, fighting a variety of enemies and bosses along the way, then return to the city to restock and meet other adventurers.

The result is a JRPG that respects your time more than most of its peers. The floor-by-floor structure is still traditional, though, and players who want variety in their dungeons may find it dated.
Makina is a renowned swordswoman, known across the kingdom as "Blazing Haired Makina". Rumours of treasure in the ruins beneath Gardona bring her to the city, along with many other adventurers. But the townsfolk are acting strangely and growing more deviant, and Makina has to find out whether the ruins are to blame, or whether she too will give in to the spreading corruption.

All characters are adults. The corruption arc is the point of the story, which is why the content warning above matters.
Exploration uses top-down 2D maps: forests, the city streets, the guild and the church. Dialogue is shown with large anime-style character portraits, and those portraits carry most of the art.

You can buy Fallen Makina and the City of Ruins in two official places. Both are Windows only; there is no Mac or Linux build.
| Store | Price (Sept. 2026) | Adult content | Notes |

The patch is labelled for GOG as well, but we did not check a GOG listing, so we cannot confirm one. Our guide to finding adult games on Steam explains how censored builds and patches work, and our best adult games on Steam list shows which picks need one.
No. The game costs $14.99 on Steam (regular price, September 2026). Only the patch is free, and it needs a copy of the game. We found no demo.
Buy the game on Steam or on Kagura's store, and take the patch only from the Patch tab on Kagura's official game page. That keeps both files from the publisher. Skip "pre-patched" builds elsewhere: they are unofficial and may not match the current version. If you choose the DRM-free build, our Windows install guide covers the basics, and our Steam safety guide explains patch checks.
The current patch on Kagura's page is v1.07.2. We could not confirm a date for it or a separate game version number, and the game has been complete since 2018. If the patch version on Kagura's page changes, use the newest one with an up-to-date Steam install.
No. The Steam version has partial nudity only. Kagura Games offers a free official patch on its site for players outside Japan.
From the Patch tab on Kagura Games' page for the game. The current file is "Steam and GOG Patch v1.07.2", and it is free.
Yes. Kagura's own store sells a DRM-free Windows build that needs no internet connection to play.
Steam lists partial controller support, so expect some menus or prompts to need a keyboard or mouse.
The store does not give a number. The story branches toward multiple endings, but we could not confirm how many there are.
Kagura labels its patch for "Steam and GOG" builds, which suggests one, but we did not check a GOG store page, so we cannot confirm it.
If you enjoy classic JRPGs and the themes in the warning are acceptable to you, yes: it is well reviewed, cuts out most grinding and the patch is free. If you want modern dungeon design or a Mac build, look elsewhere.
This is a well-made, old-fashioned dungeon crawler with a corruption story, and it is an easy one to recommend within its niche: quick-levelling removes the grind, the patch is free and official, and a DRM-free build is available. The themes are the real filter, so read the warning first.
