Language and content note. The game is in Japanese only, with no official English release. It is 18+ and contains explicit sexual content with monster girls, most of it framed as scenes after the hero loses a fight, with the monster girls always in the dominant role. That includes non-consensual themes, and the store page also flags grotesque depictions. Many players will find this content extreme.

In short

  • What it is: a long turn-based JRPG in which you recruit monster girls and build them through Job and Race levels.
  • Who it's for: Japanese-reading RPG fans who enjoy deep class building and long games, and who are comfortable with the note above.
  • Price: paid per part on Japanese stores; the final part is 3,520 yen including tax on DLsite (September 2026).
  • Status and platforms: complete in three parts, Windows only, Japanese only.
  • Big pro / big con: a huge, highly rated RPG, but no official English release and a grind-heavy, dated presentation.

What is Monster Girl Quest Paradox?

Its official Japanese title is もんむす・くえすと! ぱらどっくすRPG. It reimagines the original Monster Girl Quest in an alternate world where a different historical catastrophe led monsters and humans to coexist. The hero, Luka, sets out to find his missing father and, with mysterious guides, uncovers a contamination and chaos spreading across worlds.

It came out in three parts, per the community wiki and DLsite:

PartRelease date
Part 1March 14, 2015
Part 2June 23, 2017
Part 3 (終章, the final chapter)November 1, 2024

Why it is well known

  • The final part was a hit in Japan: on DLsite it ranked first overall on its release day, week and month, and sixth for the whole of 2024.
  • Players rate it very highly: DLsite shows an average of 4.86 out of 5 from 9,061 ratings for Part 3.
  • Scale: the store page says Part 3 alone has more than 400 monsters.

Gameplay

This is a turn-based JRPG with first-person battles. The community wiki lists RPG Maker VX Ace as the engine. The draw is the depth of its party building.

  • Recruiting: an affinity system during fights lets you recruit monster girls, who then live in a hub called the Pocket Castle.
  • Three kinds of level: each character has a base level plus separate Job and Race levels, which allows deep multiclass building.
  • Party size: four fight at once, drawn from an active roster of eight.
  • Equipment: blacksmiths let you synthesize gear.
  • Branching ending: the store page says a major decision in Part 3 changes which enemies you face and how the story ends.

Players often describe it as very long and grind-heavy, with a dated presentation. That is community sentiment, but expect a slow, stat-focused RPG rather than a short visual novel.

Where it is sold officially

Buying the parts

  • Each part is sold separately. We did not check the current prices of Parts 1 and 2.
  • Saves carry over: DLsite says Part 3 can use saves from the earlier parts, but it can also be played on its own.
  • Not on Steam: there is no Steam or other English-language store release.

DLsite shows prices converted to your local currency, but the base price is set in yen. Store pages are in Japanese, and adult titles are sold to adults only.

Is there an official English version?

No. There is no official English release of any part. Unofficial fan translations exist, but we do not link to them or explain how to use them. We could not find an official developer website either, so DLsite's product pages are the best official reference we can point to.

Is Monster Girl Quest Paradox finished?

Yes. The trilogy was completed with Part 3 on November 1, 2024. It has received fixes and additions since: the DLsite update log runs from version 3.01 two days after release to version 3.06 on April 5, 2025, and version 3.02 added a difficulty adjustment setting.

Pros

  • A huge recruitable roster; 400+ monsters in Part 3 alone
  • Deep Job and Race multiclass progression
  • Complete, with updates after release
  • Very highly rated by DLsite buyers

Cons

  • No official English release
  • Japanese stores only, and each part is sold separately
  • Very long and grind-heavy with a dated look (community sentiment)
  • Defeat-scene content that many players will find extreme

Final verdict

Judged by its Japanese reception, this is one of the biggest adult RPGs of the last decade: complete, huge, and loved by the people who buy it. Its class system and recruiting explain why. For English-speaking readers there is no official way to play it, and its defeat-focused content is a hard line for many. If you read Japanese and that content is for you, DLsite is the official route. Otherwise, look at RPGs with official English releases, such as Karryn's Prison or the picks in our adult RPG guide, or browse the full catalog.
