HuniePop 2: Double Date is HuniePot's match-3 dating sim sequel, in which every puzzle is a date with two characters at once. It is a paid, finished game at $19.99 on Steam (regular price, September 2026) for Windows and Mac. The Steam build needs a free official patch, linked from the game's own website, to show the adult content.

In short
HuniePop 2: Double Date is a puzzle dating sim made and published by HuniePot, the studio behind the original HuniePop. It came out on February 8, 2021 and blends match-3 puzzles with light RPG progression and a comedic dating layer. It is also sold outside Steam, on GOG, Humble Store, MangaGamer, Nutaku and FAKKU, all linked from the official site.
Short answer on whether it is worth it: if you enjoyed the first game's puzzle-first approach, the sequel is the more complex and more demanding version of the same idea. If you are after a story-heavy romance, this is not that kind of game, and our wider look at adult dating sims has better options for you.
Players have been kind to it. The Steam review summary reads "Very Positive" from 9,399 user reviews.
The sequel keeps the match-3 dating core but puts two dates on the board at once, adds the Stamina and Baggage systems, and gives many gifts strategic effects. Kyu returns as the guide, and the cast of 12 mixes returning characters with new ones. One step back: the first game had a Linux build on Steam, and the sequel does not.
The core is a match-3 board. You swap tokens to build affection and win the date, and the twist of the sequel is in the title: you are on a date with two characters at the same time.

The result is a puzzle game that asks for more thought than most in the genre. Managing two affection meters, Stamina and a Baggage condition at once is where the challenge lives. If you only want the unlocks, the puzzles will feel like a gate. If you like puzzles, they are the best part.
Kyu, the love fairy from the first game, returns as your guide. She sends you to the tropical island of Inna De Poona to sharpen your double-dating skills before an ancient pair of lust demons, the Nymphojinn, awaken. The story is a comedic frame for the puzzle campaign rather than a drama, and it is as silly as that summary sounds.

The cast of 12 mixes characters returning from HuniePop with new faces. Compatible pairs talk to each other in fully voiced dialogue, which gives the double-date concept some personality beyond the board. All characters are adults.
A fair warning about tone: the writing is crude, fast and joke-driven. Some players love the humour and some find it grating. Our view is that it suits the arcade structure, but it will not suit everyone, so check the store page and the free patch situation before you buy.

HuniePop 2 is a bright 2D game with a beach-resort colour palette and anime-inspired character art. The board, menus and locations are cleanly laid out, and the art is the main reward loop, since every unlock is visual. It is a polished commercial production, and that shows in the consistency of the character art across outfits.
Steam's content descriptors mention frequent nudity, sexual dialogue and scenes, and references to drug and alcohol use. How much of that you see on the Steam build depends on the patch, covered next.
The game runs on Windows and Mac. Unlike the first HuniePop, Steam lists no Linux build for the sequel.
The Steam build does not show the full adult content on its own. The official website, huniepop2doubledate.com, links a free file called "HP2SteamyPatch.dat" (hosted on teamhijack.com) under its "Patch" link for the Steam version. HuniePot's own v1.1.0 patch notes also refer to the game's "uncensored version" of images.
| Steam build as sold | Steam build + official patch | |
|---|---|---|
| Full adult content | No | Yes |
| Cost | $19.99 (regular price, September 2026) | Patch is free |
| Where to get it | Steam | "Patch" link on huniepop2doubledate.com |
So the answer to the most common question is: buy on Steam, then get the free official HuniePop 2 Steam patch from the official site. You do not pay extra for it.
The official site lists the file but, when we checked, did not publish install steps next to the link. We will not guess at them; follow HuniePot's official instructions if you need help, and never download a "patch" from an unofficial mirror. If you want to see how other Steam games handle this (some are uncensored as sold, some sell adult DLC), our Steam adult games list explains each case.
No. It costs $19.99 on Steam (regular price, September 2026). The adult patch linked from the official site is free. Two optional paid extras exist on Steam, and neither is needed to play the whole game:
| Steam extra | Price | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| HuniePop 2: Double Date OST | $4.99 | 30 tracks plus 3 bonus tracks |
| HuniePop 2: Double Date Art Collection | $4.99 | An art collection, no gameplay |
Prices are regular Steam prices, September 2026.
Keep every file you install inside official channels:
A "patch" or "full unlocked version" from anywhere else is an unknown file, and we would not run it. For a broader explanation of what Steam does and does not check for adult titles, read are Steam adult games safe?.
The most recent version announcement in HuniePot's Steam news feed is version 1.1.0, from June 2021. Later silent builds may exist, but we could not verify any, so treat 1.1.0 as the last confirmed update. The game is released and complete; no further content is announced.
Not on its own. The official website links a free patch file for the Steam version, and HuniePot's patch notes refer to an "uncensored version" of the images. Get the patch only from huniepop2doubledate.com.
Yes. Steam lists Windows and macOS. There is no Linux build on Steam.
Not on Steam. The store lists Windows and macOS only, which is a change from the first HuniePop, whose Steam release included Linux.
Steam sells two optional extras: the official OST ($4.99, 30 tracks plus 3 bonus tracks) and the Art Collection ($4.99), both at regular price in September 2026. Neither adds gameplay, and the adult patch is free rather than paid DLC.
For puzzle fans, yes. The double-date system, Stamina and Baggage make the match-3 more strategic than the first game, and Steam users rate it Very Positive. If you want a story-heavy romance, it is the wrong kind of game.
HuniePot does not publish an official playtime, so we will not quote a number. Length depends mostly on how quickly you clear the puzzle dates and how many unlocks you chase.
The short version of our HuniePop 2 review: HuniePop 2: Double Date takes a simple idea and makes it harder in interesting ways. Juggling two dates, Stamina and Baggage turns the match-3 into a real puzzle game, and the art and music carry the rest. The humour is an acquired taste and the patch step on Steam is an extra hoop, but it is free and official. Puzzle fans should pick it up; story fans should look elsewhere.
