How we picked

Every game here has an official itch.io page run by its developer, and every pick offers something you can download without paying. That rules out a lot of good games. If you want the store as a whole, paid games included, our ranking of all adult games on itch.io covers it; this page is only about the free end.

We checked each page on September 30, 2026 and sorted the picks into three groups: full free builds first, then a name-your-own-price release, then free demos. Demos are labelled as demos, because a demo stops where the paid game starts. For more free options beyond one store, the free games hub sorts everything by platform and genre.

Three kinds of free on itch.io

Free public build. The download costs nothing. Most developers fund the game through Patreon or SubscribeStar, and supporters get newer versions first, so the free build is usually one or more versions behind.
Name-your-own-price. The developer lets you choose what to pay. Some set the minimum at zero and some set a floor, so read the button before you click it.
Free demo. A cut-down version of a paid game, often on its own itch.io page. Good for testing whether a game runs and whether you like the style.

Eternum is the cleanest free download on itch.io: all four builds (Windows, Mac, Linux and Android) sit on Caribdis's page at no cost, and Patreon or SubscribeStar supporters simply get the next version earlier. The public release is 0.9, dated January 2026 on the itch page.

It is a linear visual novel with no free roam, which means no hunting for event triggers. The trade-off is waiting: public versions have come roughly once a year lately. The "Eternum EX" app on Steam is an unrelated game; our Eternum review has the rest of the details.

Players who want a polished story with humor and a mystery, free on any device.

itch.io Patreon

This is the only game in the list that is both free and finished. Version 1.0 came out in July 2021 and all four builds are free on itch.io, with nothing locked behind a tier. It is the same developer's first game, and players often mention that the renders and writing look older next to Eternum.

What you get in return is a complete supernatural mystery with several endings. Some endings include family-relationship themes, so check the notes if that matters to you.

Anyone who wants a free adult game with a real ending, playable in a few sittings.

Harem Hotel

Harem Hotel is free on itch.io, but the files are hosted off-site: the page gives external download links for a combined PC and Android package and a separate Mac build. The public version is 0.19.1, and Patreon backers get early access.

The itch rating is one of the highest in the adult section we checked (4.8 out of 5 from more than 8,600 ratings). Expect a long game with hotel upgrades, skills and unlockable traits on top of the story, and slow releases: it has been in development since 2017.

Best for

Players who want dozens of free hours and like management layers in a visual novel.

A House in the Rift

itch.io itch.io Premium

A House in the Rift shows the tiered model clearly. The itch page has free files marked "FREE" (0.8.12 when we checked), a paid Premium version on the same store that was at 0.8.14, and Patreon early access at 0.8.15. Free players are a couple of versions behind but still get a very large sandbox.

Check your storage first: the PC and Mac downloads are 11 GB each, and Android is a 4 GB pack plus a 41 MB launcher. Updating on Android means swapping the game's .rpa data file into the folder.

Best for

Fantasy sandbox fans with plenty of disk space.

Innocent Witches

Innocent Witches is a comedic parody set in a famous wizard school, played as an old-school point-and-click adventure with inventory puzzles. The itch page lists Windows, Mac, Linux and Android and asks that any payment be treated as a tip; the free public build is also on the developer's official site, which adds a browser version.

Supporters on Patreon, SubscribeStar and Boosty are well ahead (0.12.1 against 0.11.6 for the public). The itch page says no generative AI was used. All characters are presented as adults.

Best for

Adventure-game players who want puzzles rather than only dialogue choices.

Steam itch.io

The fact row shows the Steam price, because the finished game (Book One plus the Book Two DLC) is sold there. On itch.io, PhillyGames offers only Chapters 1-4 (v0.4.2) as name-your-own-price. We could not confirm whether the minimum is zero, so check the price field before downloading.

It is a cyberpunk bounty-hunter story with a hidden anger stat that changes dialogue, and the adult content is mostly skippable according to the Steam page. The itch page is out of date and still says "In development", even though Book Two finished the story in 2024.

Best for

Trying a complete, paid visual novel's first four chapters before deciding to buy.

NLT Media keeps the free demo on its own itch.io page, separate from the paid game, and links it from the official site. The full game is a top-down treasure hunt with block-pushing puzzles and relationship quests, and it is Very Positive on Steam from more than 6,500 reviews.

The demo tells you quickly whether you can live with the item hunting and backtracking that players often complain about.

Do not confuse it with "Lust Epidemic 18+" on Steam, an unrelated game from another studio.

Taffy Tales Redux is a pixel-art sandbox remade from scratch, sold in seasons ($25.00 each on itch.io). Free demos exist on both itch.io and Steam. The itch.io pages disclose AI-assisted graphics, which some players dislike, and the Steam reviews are Mixed.

That mix of praise and doubt is exactly why the demo is useful: try it before paying for a season.

How to find more free adult games on itch.io

Adult content is hidden on itch.io by default. It only appears in search and browse if you look for it directly or turn on NSFW browsing in your account settings. The NSFW browse page works while logged out, but it shows an 18+ date-of-birth gate first.

Free games are also the easiest adult games to find there, for a specific reason. In July 2025 itch.io deindexed adult content from browse and search after payment-processor scrutiny. On July 31, 2025 it began reindexing free adult pages (those with "No Payments" set under Pricing), while paid content was to return slowly. When we checked the logged-out NSFW browse page on September 30, 2026, almost every listed title was free; that is our observation, not an official statement.

Downloading, updating and staying safe

Download only from the developer's own itch.io page or the official site it links to. External mirrors are fine when the developer's page links them, as Harem Hotel's does; random re-upload sites are not.

Yes. Eternum, Once in a Lifetime, Harem Hotel and A House in the Rift all have free public builds on their developers' itch.io pages, and Once in a Lifetime is finished. Innocent Witches treats payment as an optional tip.

What does name-your-own-price mean on itch.io?

The developer lets you choose how much to pay. Some pages accept zero, others set a minimum. City of Broken Dreamers Chapters 1-4 use this model; we could not confirm its minimum.
