What is Honey Select 2 Libido DX?

It is developed and published by ILLUSION, the Japanese studio behind Koikatsu. The Steam name is "HoneySelect2Libido DX"; the store text calls it Honey Select 2: Libido Deluxe. It came out on Steam on June 2, 2022, and players rate it "Very Positive" (81% of 1,370 reviews).

The store pitch is blunt: ILLUSION calls it a sex simulator and spends most of the page on characters, personalities and scenarios. We read it as a toy box rather than a game with a win condition.

The store states that all characters are over 18.

Gameplay

You arrive at "Honey Select", a private establishment where patrons look for a partner. From there, a session goes roughly like this:

Create or edit a character. Face, body, hair and outfit controls are extensive, and you can save your creations.
Pick personalities. Each character has a personality type with its own expressions, dialogue and quirks.

Direct the scene. Lighting controls and a free camera let you frame it yourself, or you can stick with default options and simple controls.
Studio-style posing. A separate scene mode lets you pose characters without the story frame.

Libido DX personalities

The store lists examples such as a businesswoman, a sporty type, an outgoing tomboy, a meek bookworm, a doting caregiver and a leather-clad dominatrix. Personality changes how a character talks and reacts, which gives the interaction mode more variety than the editor alone would.

Intuition leads you to a nondescript building, a guide greets you at the door, and you learn that Honey Select serves customers looking for every kind of partner, from lifelong companions to people who just want a thrill. It is a premise, not a plot: the story gets you to the scenes and gives characters a reason to be there.

On July 14, 2023 ILLUSION posted a "Notice of Termination of Activities" in the game's Steam news, saying it would discontinue development and sales of its products on August 18, 2023. A short "Adjusting the closing schedule" post followed on that date, with no further details.
