How we picked

Fifteen games in our database are flagged for character customization. We kept the ones where the records describe what you can change in concrete terms (sliders, body systems, classes, outfit counts) and ranked them by depth: how many things you can change, and whether the changes matter in play or are only cosmetic.

Price and support weigh in too. The two biggest 3D creators come from a studio that closed in 2023, so we say so in each entry. For the rest of our rankings, see the best lists hub.

Three kinds of customization

Type	What it means	Games here
3D character creator	You design characters in a detailed 3D editor; the editor is the main game	HoneySelect2Libido DX, Custom Order Maid 3D2, Koikatsu Party, 3D Custom Lady Maker
Build your own hero	You create or reshape the protagonist, and it changes what you can do	Lilith's Throne, Trials in Tainted Space, Memoirs of a Battle Brothel, Corruption of Champions II
Outfits and decor	You dress a set character or decorate a space	HARDCODED, Cursed Armor, HuniePop 2

The best adult games with character customization

HoneySelect2Libido DX

Developer: ILLUSION
Genre: Simulation, Character creator, Sandbox
Platforms: Windows
Price: $69.99
Status: Released

Steam

HoneySelect2Libido DX has one of the most detailed 3D character creators in the genre. You edit face, body and outfits in depth, pick from a range of personality types that change dialogue and reactions, and use a separate studio-style scene mode for posing. It is closer to a sandbox toy than a story game, and it is explicit as sold on Steam.

The big caveat is support. ILLUSION stopped development and sales in August 2023, yet the Steam page still sells the game at $69.99, so you are paying full price for software that will not be patched again.

Best for

Players who want the deepest 3D editor and accept that it is frozen in time.

CUSTOM ORDER MAID 3D2 It's a Night Magic

Developer: KISS
Genre: Simulation, Management, Character creator
Platforms: Windows
Price: $40.00
Status: Released

Steam Official site

Custom Order Maid 3D2 puts its very deep 3D editor inside a game with goals. You inherit a debt-ridden club and design and customize the maids who run it, then manage the club's schedule and services. Rhythm-based VS Dance battles can be skipped, and it supports VR headsets.

The cost adds up: the base game is $40.00, adult content needs a separate $5.00 R18 patch, and Steam lists 60+ DLC entries of costumes, characters and scenarios. It is Very Positive (83% of 1,550 reviews) and still getting DLC in 2026.

Best for

Players who want a deep editor and a management loop to use it in.

Lilith's Throne

Developer: Innoxia
Genre: RPG, Text-based RPG, Sandbox
Platforms: WindowsMacLinux
Price: Free
Status: In Development

Official site GitHub

Lilith's Throne is the most granular customization you can get for free. It is a text RPG, so instead of sliders you get an extremely detailed body and transformation system, inventory and clothing, and detailed content-preference settings that let you turn many themes off.

It is still labelled alpha by its developer, and on Mac or Linux you run a .jar file that needs Java and JavaFX installed. Our Lilith's Throne review covers setup.

Best for

Players who care more about detail than graphics, on any desktop OS.

Koikatsu Party

Developer: ILLUSION
Genre: Simulation, Character creator, 3D anime sandbox
Platforms: Windows
Price: $59.99
Status: Released

Steam

Koikatsu Party is the anime-style counterpart to HoneySelect2: a character creator with more than 300 settings for faces, separately editable hair sections, body, coloring and outline shading. Each character gets one of 30 personality archetypes, and her settings change how she reacts.

It is $59.99 on Steam with the After Party expansion another $54.99, and the studio has closed, so expect no official updates. A free VR DLC is available.

Best for

Players who want a cel-shaded anime look rather than realistic 3D.

Trials in Tainted Space

Developer: Fenoxo
Genre: RPG, Text-based RPG, Sci-fi
Platforms: WindowsMacLinuxAndroidBrowser
Price: Free
Status: In Development

Official site Patreon

In Trials in Tainted Space, customization is the game: you create a character and then reshape them through transformation as you explore ships, stations and planets. The records describe deep character customization as one of its central features.

It is free, runs in a browser or on Windows, Mac, Linux and Android, and gets changelog updates several times a month. It is also very text-heavy, with limited art.

Best for

Sci-fi fans who want their hero to change as the game goes on.

Memoirs of a Battle Brothel

Developer: A Memory of Eternity
Genre: Strategy, Tactical RPG, Turn-based tactics
Platforms: Windows
Price: $19.99
Status: In Development

Steam itch.io

Memoirs of a Battle Brothel treats customization the way a tabletop RPG does. You create your character with a background and goals and choose from four classes and eight subclasses, and that build shapes how the story plays out in its turn-based tactics and faction politics.

It is finished and Very Positive on Steam (85% of 225). The presentation is dated, so this is for players who value a meaningful build over looks.

Best for

RPG players who want character creation that changes the game, not the mirror.

HARDCODED

Developer: Ghosthug Games
Genre: Dating Sim, Open-world, Visual novel
Platforms: WindowsMacLinux
Price: $16.99
Status: Completed

Steam itch.io

HARDCODED is the best cosmetic customization in a story game. You play an android hiding in a cyberpunk city, earn money, and buy clothes from hundreds of outfit pieces; you also decorate your apartment with furniture found around the open world.

The dressing up ties into a queer-focused story the developer describes as largely about the trans experience of transition. It is complete and Very Positive on Steam (348 reviews), with hand-drawn pixel art.

Best for

Players who enjoy styling a character and a home inside a real story.

Cursed Armor

Developer: GameCrafters
Genre: RPG, Adventure RPG, Corruption
Platforms: Windows
Price: $9.99
Status: Released

Steam Official site

Cursed Armor shows that costumes can matter in a 2D game. Outfits change the heroine's avatar and pixel animations, and a Beauty Salon cosplay system lets you customize her look further. Around that sit 200+ events, multiple endings and an estimated 20+ hours.

It is Windows only, $9.99 at regular price and Very Positive (89% of 697). The corruption theme may include non-consensual elements.

Best for

Players who like dressing a set heroine and seeing it reflected in the sprites.

Corruption of Champions II

Developer: Salamander Studios
Genre: RPG, Text-based RPG, Adventure
Platforms: WindowsLinuxAndroidBrowser
Price: $9.99
Status: Early Access

Steam Official site

Corruption of Champions II lets you build a champion through classes and gear and recruit companions for turn-based party combat. It is less about body detail than its predecessor or Trials in Tainted Space and more about a structured build.

A free public build runs in a browser; the Steam version is $9.99 in Early Access.

Best for

Players who want class-based builds in a text RPG with more structure.

3D Custom Lady Maker

Developer: Hyper'sthene
Genre: Simulation, Character creator, Photo mode
Platforms: Windows
Price: $4.99
Status: Released

Steam

3D Custom Lady Maker is the budget way to try a 3D creator. You edit face, body, hair, clothing and voice with sliders across eleven clothing categories, save up to 80 characters and use a photo mode with adjustable lighting and camera.

At $4.99 it is cheap, but the adult content is a separate $4.99 DLC, reviews are Mixed (67% of 290) and there is very little to do beyond creating.

Best for

Testing whether you enjoy character creators before paying $60 or more.

HuniePop 2: Double Date

Developer: HuniePot
Genre: Dating Sim, Match-3 puzzle, Light RPG
Platforms: WindowsMac
Price: $19.99
Status: Released

Steam Official site

HuniePop 2 is here for the lightest kind of customization: progress unlocks outfits and hairstyles for the cast. It will not satisfy players who want an editor, but it adds a reason to keep dating in a strong match-3 puzzle game.

On Steam the adult content needs a free official patch from the developer's site.

Best for

Puzzle fans who like unlocking new looks as a reward.

Before you buy a 3D creator

All four 3D creators are Windows only. Mac players should look at Lilith's Throne, Trials in Tainted Space or HARDCODED.
Check the adult content route. HoneySelect2 and Koikatsu are explicit as sold; Custom Order Maid 3D2 needs a paid R18 patch; 3D Custom Lady Maker needs a paid DLC.
Two are no longer supported. HoneySelect2 and Koikatsu come from ILLUSION, which stopped development in 2023.
Budget for DLC. Custom Order Maid 3D2 and Koikatsu both have expansions that cost close to the base game.

For customization inside RPGs specifically, our adult RPG guide ranks the genre as a whole, and for dating games, see the dating sim guide.
